The incidence of breast cancer diagnosis is increasing, while the mortality rate is decreasing, so more and more patients require rehabilitation. Breast cancer treatment often results in impaired arm function, which can lead to a reduced quality of life. A study published at the University of Northern Colorado measures the effects of Nordic Walking on arm function in breast cancer patients.
Data suggest that regular practice of proper Nordic Walking technique for eight weeks significantly improved upper body muscle endurance in breast cancer patients after treatment. Lisa K.
